PackCleared (“PackCleared,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a travel and trip-planning platform that helps individuals and organizations coordinate packing for personal trips, group travel, and organization-led events. This Privacy Policy describes what personal data we collect, how we use and share it, the choices you have, and the protections we apply to that data, including transfers from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland to the United States.
If you have questions about this policy or want to exercise any of the rights described below, contact us at packcleared.com/contact.
What personal data we collect
Account and profile information
When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and authentication identifiers. You may optionally provide additional profile information including birth year (used to determine age-appropriate content and gate adult features), home city (used to detect international trips and localize recommendations), gender and pronouns (visible only to your trip leaders and organization administrators), and packing preferences. These fields are optional except where required by law for age verification of minors.
Trip and Packlist information
When you plan a trip we collect trip details such as destinations, dates, Packer rosters, Packlists, and the status of items on those Packlists. When you add items to your personal Kit, we store the item name, optional brand and model, and any specifications you provide. This information is used to generate personalized packing recommendations and to coordinate with people you invite to a trip.
Optional health and dietary preferences
You may voluntarily provide allergens, dietary restrictions, accessibility needs, medical notes, and information about medications you take while traveling. We use this information solely to generate context-aware packing recommendations for you. We share these fields with other trip Packers only when you grant explicit per-item consent. We do not sell, transfer for advertising purposes, or otherwise disclose this information to third parties.
Service operations data
We collect telemetry, error logs, and aggregated usage analytics to maintain platform reliability, security, and feature improvement. This data may include IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit on PackCleared, and the actions you take. We do not use this data for advertising and do not sell it to third parties.
Billing and payments
When you purchase a paid plan or one-time pass, we collect billing details necessary to process the transaction. Payment card data is processed directly by Stripe, Inc. (PCI-DSS Level 1 certified). PackCleared does not store payment card numbers, security codes, or full card details on our servers.
How we use personal data
We process personal data for the following purposes:
- Operating the PackCleared service, authenticating users, and providing the features you request.
- Generating personalized packing recommendations using AI inference on the data you provide.
- Coordinating travel with people you explicitly invite to a trip or organization workspace.
- Sending transactional notifications related to your trips, account, and subscriptions.
- Responding to support requests.
- Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Complying with legal obligations and enforcing our terms.
We do not use personal data for behavioral advertising, profile-building for third-party advertisers, or sale of contact lists.
Children’s privacy and minor protection
PackCleared’s consumer service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 outside of an organization context with verified guardian consent. When PackCleared is used by a school or youth organization, the participating organization is responsible for obtaining appropriate parental or guardian consent under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable state student-data-privacy laws. Within such organizations, PackCleared applies layered safety protections including minor-status flags, default-deny cross-workspace data flow, audit logging of consent grants and revocations, and age-floor enforcement on all adult-tier content surfaces. Parents or guardians who become aware of personal data we have collected from a child under 13 without proper consent may contact us to request deletion.
How we share personal data
We do not sell personal data and do not disclose personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share personal data only as follows:
With service providers acting as our processors
We rely on a limited set of service providers under written data processing agreements:

Each processor is bound by data protection terms consistent with our commitments under this policy and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
With other PackCleared users you choose to share with
When you invite someone to a trip or organization workspace, the trip information and the limited profile fields you have authorized for sharing become visible to those collaborators. You retain control of which optional fields (such as dietary and medical information) are shared, on a per-item or per-leader basis.
For legal reasons
We may disclose personal data when required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PackCleared, our users, or the public. We respond to lawful government requests in accordance with applicable law.
Data retention and deletion
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and for a limited period thereafter for legitimate operational and legal purposes (typically up to 24 months after account closure for backup retention and dispute resolution). You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us at packcleared.com/contact. We will delete or anonymize your personal data in accordance with applicable law.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access. These measures include encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for databases, role-based access controls, audit logging of sensitive operations, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of inaccurate or unlawfully processed data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
- Withdraw consent for processing activities that rely on consent.

International data transfers
PackCleared is based in the United States, and personal data we collect is processed and stored in the United States. When we receive personal data from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we are responsible for ensuring an adequate level of protection in accordance with applicable law.
EU-US, UK Extension, and Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework
PackCleared’s self-certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (including the UK Extension to the EU-US DPF) and the Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework is currently pending review by the U.S. Department of Commerce. PackCleared is subject to the investigatory and enforcement powers of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. In compliance with the EU-US DPF, the UK Extension to the EU-US DPF, and the Swiss-US DPF, PackCleared commits to refer unresolved complaints concerning our handling of personal data received in reliance on these frameworks to the relevant national data protection authority panels for independent dispute resolution: the panel of EU data protection authorities (DPAs) for EEA-sourced data, the United Kingdom Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) for UK-sourced data, and the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) for Swiss-sourced data. There is no fee for these dispute resolution mechanisms.
